ELIJAH ALBERT COX (1876-1955) UNITED STATES LINES / [LEVIATHAN.] Circa 1925. 37 1/2x23 3/4 inches, 95 1/4x60 1/4 cm. Condition A-: small expertly-replaced loss in lower right corner; unobtrusive repaired tears at edges. Cox, who had been an assistant to Frank Brangwyn, was a painter, muralist, illustrator and poster designer. He primarily designed posters for the London Underground and the Empire Marketing Board; his images almost exclusively depicted people making this image of ships and the Statue of Liberty an outlier amongst his works.
